Ohiopyle State Park Mountain Bike Trails
Ohiopyle State Park, the largest state park in Pennsylvania, has more than 30 miles of mountain biking trails. More are being built every year! Trails currently open to mountain biking include the Sugarloaf Trail System, Kim, Kentuck, Pressley Ridge, McCune and Baughman. These trails are shared with other users, so use proper trail etiquette! For the most recent information on open trails and trail conditions check in with the Ohiopyle Biking Club.
There are trail systems north and south of Ohiopyle. Seven Springs resort, 18 miles north of town, has a downhill course and 20 miles of singletrack. If you start your ride on top of the mountain, you can spend your whole ride on top of the ridge. Hidden Valley Ski Resort also has a trail system, but it’s less developed and involves a little more climbing. Keep heading north and you will crest the Laurel Ridge. This area has miles of beautiful, technical trails. The higher elevation makes it a little cooler in the summer. The best trailhead for Laurel Ridge is at the old Laurel Mountain Ski Area, off of Route 30.
If you’re going south of Ohiopyle, set your sights on Quebec Run. This is technical and difficult riding with rock gardens and lots of hills. Due to the heavy tree cover, the rocks are almost always slippery. The trails drain well after rains, though! Expert riders will have a lot of fun, but Quebec Run might be too intense for beginners.
Keep heading south just over the border into West Virginia, and you’ll find Coopers Rocks State Park. About 20 miles of fun, technical singletrack await you, with amazing views of the Cheat Canyon.
