Day 1: We’ll kick things off with warm smiles and a scenic ride along Lake Marion’s stunning shoreline – home to cypress trees, salt marshes, and maybe even a sunbathing alligator. After exploring the region’s rich biodiversity, we’ll head to Columbia’s boutique Hotel Trundle. Relax with a craft beer in the whimsical unicorn lounge before enjoying Carolina Gold BBQ – smoked meats, savory sides, and bold Southern flavor. A perfect welcome to the Palmetto State.
Day 2: After a hearty Southern breakfast – fried chicken biscuits, anyone? – we ride out from Hotel Trundle, passing the SC Capitol, USC’s charming neighborhoods, and the striking Columbia Temple. As the city fades, Lowcountry beauty returns. Pedal past peanut and tobacco farms en route to Congaree National Park – home to one of the largest old-growth hardwood forests in the U.S. After lunch and a visit to the center, we’ll hike 2.3 miles on the peaceful boardwalk, spotting egrets, owls, woodpeckers, palmettos, and maybe even wild pigs. We’ll then shuttle to Charleston, where you’re free to explore the French Quarter or unwind in the Indigo Inn’s open-air courtyard.
Day 3: We’ll kick off the day with breakfast, then shuttle to the stunning Magnolia Plantation – where vibrant gardens meet deep, complex history. Ride through Charleston’s estuaries past moss-draped oaks, salt marshes, and scurrying fiddler crabs, finishing at Demetre Park with sweeping views of the city and Atlantic. Take a dip or relax by the pier before heading back to the Indigo Inn. Tonight, we celebrate Lowcountry-style with a seafood feast – crawfish, oysters, shrimp, and andouille sausage – served waterside with Southern sides and great company.
Day 4: We begin the day cycling through Charleston’s Old Town, where Georgian, Colonial, and Gothic Revival architecture create the city’s unmistakable charm. Next, we ride the iconic Ravenel Bridge, with sweeping views of the Cooper River and Charleston Harbor, before heading to the quiet streets and beaches of Sullivan’s Island. A visit to Fort Moultrie offers a glimpse into Civil War history, followed by a beach walk and return ride over the bridge. We end our journey with a scenic ferry tour of Fort Sumter – closing the week with stories, sea breezes, and a beautiful ride through Charleston Harbor.
